You already know how to teach. What you probably don't have is a steady stream of students, a schedule that survives a busy term, and someone else handling the invoicing. That's the part we do.
A published rate you don't negotiate for
Most agencies bill families well over $50/hr and pay the tutor $20–25 of it. We start you at $30, and your share climbs with track record — up to 80% of what the family pays — paid every two weeks. You'll know what a session pays before you accept it, and we'll tell you what the family pays too.
Rate within each band is based on demonstrated tutoring experience, not seniority in your program, and is reviewed after your first sessions with us.
Built around your term, not against it
Practicum, exam season, a second job, a heavy month. Tell us your blackout weeks in advance and we'll cover your students rather than dropping them. You keep them when you come back.

What hiring actually looks like
Most tutoring companies won't tell you how they choose people, which is convenient if the answer is that they mostly don't. Here is ours end to end, including what we judge you on and what we don't.

You apply
The form asks what you're strongest in, what you're studying or have studied, and when you're free to teach. No cover letter, no CV to tailor.

We talk
Your background, what you want to teach, and how you ended up wanting to teach it. Then it's your turn: ask about the pay, how matching works, what we keep and what we do to earn it. We publish those numbers so that you can push on them now, rather than finding out six weeks in that the job wasn't what you were told.

You teach us something
Choose a topic in a subject you'd want to teach — ideally one real students struggle with — and prepare how you'd explain it. Then teach it to one of us, who plays the student: someone who doesn't follow it the first time, who answers a question wrong, and who needs it a second way. Bring whatever you'd normally bring. No slides required and none expected.
What we're watching for
- Whether you find out what I already know before you start explaining.
- What you do when I answer wrong — correct the answer, or work out why I gave it.
- Whether you make me try before you show me.
- Whether you have a second explanation ready when the first one doesn't land.
- Whether you know where the topic sits in the course, not just the topic alone.
What we're not judging
- Nerves. Everyone is nervous. It has never once decided this.
- Finishing. Ten minutes where I genuinely follow you beats covering the lot.
- Polish. There's no script to hit and no performance to give.
- Knowing everything. “I'm not sure — let's work it out” is a good answer. Pretending is the only wrong one.

We decide, and we tell you why
You hear back whether it's a yes or a no. If it's a no you get the actual reason, and if the gap is something fixable we'll say what it is and you're welcome to come back to us.

Vulnerable sector check
A current check from your local police service, obtained by you. You need one before you meet any student in person, and we have to see it first — there is no exception to that. Without one you are not blocked from starting: you take online students until it comes through, which in Ontario commonly takes a few weeks. Once you have completed ten sessions with us we reimburse the application fee, so keep the receipt.

Matched, then your first session
We match you to one student and one course rather than handing you a queue, and you can turn a match down. You'll know what the session pays before you accept it, you'll know what the family pays for it, and you're paid every two weeks from the first one.
