What we screen for

Plenty of people can solve the question on your child's worksheet — a math major, an engineer, a strong Grade 12 student. Working out why your child couldn't is a different skill, and a rarer one. That's what we test for before anyone is put in front of a student.

Finding where it broke

A Grade 11 student failing functions is usually carrying a Grade 9 problem with fractions or signs. Today's answer doesn't touch that. Our tutors trace the error back to where it started and rebuild from there.

Step 01

A 30-minute call with you

Just you, not your child. We'll ask what the last report card said, what's been tried already, and what's worrying you. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so on the call.

Step 02

A tutor matched to the course

We match on the specific course and the specific student. The first session, in person or online, is a diagnostic to find where the gap actually starts.

Step 03

Weekly sessions and a note home

After every session you get a short written summary — what was covered, what's still shaky, what's next. No having to ask your teenager how it went.

My son started with Jinhao in grade 10 and the difference it made was significant, not just in his grades, but in who he became as a student. Jinhao has a real gift for explaining concepts clearly, and that clarity made such a difference in how much my son actually understood and enjoyed learning, rather than just getting through it. He's now in grade 12 calculus with another tutor through X Tutoring, and I can see how much that early foundation set him up well. I'm grateful for how much care went into his learning, both academically and as a person.
